Bio:

Prof. Dr. Alper ILKI is a Professor of Structural Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). His research focuses on structural and earthquake engineering. He has authored/co-authored over 110 SCI/SCIE journal papers and 260+ international conference papers, supervised 22 PhD theses and 71 MSc theses.  

He is ranked among the top 2% researchers worldwide in civil engineering (2020, 2023–2025, Stanford/Elsevier) and consistently recognized as the top researcher at ITU Civil Engineering Department (2016–2025, based on academic impact and high-quality publications).  

He holds key roles in professional organizations, including Member of the Board of Directors for Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (DASK, 2017–), President/Member of the Board of Directors for Turkish Earthquake Foundation (TDV, 2021/2018–2021), and AFAD Disaster and Emergency Advisory Board Member (2020–). He also contributes to seismic code revisions (Turkish Seismic Design Code, 2004–2007, 2012–2018, 2019–) and serves on editorial boards of top journals (e.g., ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering).
