2023 Call for Proposals on ILEE International Collaborative Research

Introduction 
The International Joint Research Laboratory of Earthquake Engineering (ILEE) at Tongji University was established in 2015. The aim of ILEE is to serve as a platform for international collaboration and academic exchanges in earthquake engineering research. ILEE catalyzes and supports collaborative research projects to conduct fundamental, prospective, and innovative research on frontier scientific problems and key technical issues in areas of earthquake engineering. 
The ILEE Collaborative Research, at the current stage, gives high emphasis on the cooperation and partnerships among ILEE members in the areas of seismic resilience. In 2023, we intend to seek proposals from ILEE member organizations and research centers on the launch of high-impact cooperative projects.
 
Project and Funding 
  1. Funding Amount: 400,000 RMB
  2. Funding Period: 2 years, 1 Jan 2024 to 31 Dec 2025
  3. Matching funding and contribution from other resources are highly appreciated
Principles and Advice
The guideline for the ILEE call for Collaborative Research in 2023 is as follows:
  1. The PI must be a well-established foreign researcher (non-Chinese passport holder) specialized in earthquake engineering. Only researchers from ILEE member organizations (see the following organization names in the end) are eligible to apply for the Collaborative Research project as a Principal Investigator (PI).
  2. The PI must find a Co-PI in the College of Civil Engineering in Tongji University as a collaborator to apply for the Collaborative Research project. 
  3. The project with matching funding will be considered in high priority.  
  4. The research project should be targeted to the international remarkable outcome.
  5. The use of experimental facility of the State Key Laboratory of Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering is highly encouraged.
  6. All data generated through this research project shall be appropriately acknowledged and collected as a dataset to be uploaded in the data warehouse in ILEE website. 
  7. A research report should be submitted to ILEE after the completion of the project and will be uploaded in ILEE website. The published paper from this project should be appropriately acknowledged and is encouraged to be submitted to the journals at the Journal Center of College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University. 
Submission and Announcement
The deadline for the proposal (template attached below) submission is 15 Nov 2023. Please send the completed proposal to the email of yiqiu_lu@tongji.edu.cn. The funded project will be announced during Kwang-Hua Forum from 8 to10 Dec 2023.
