Akira Wada is Emeritus Professor of Structure Engineering of Tokyo Institute of Technology. His areas of interest include Seismic Engineering, Seismic Isolation, Vibration Control Sturcture, and Space Structure. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in 1968，master in 1970 and PhD in 1981. Akira Wada has received several notable awards for work with collaborators, including, the Prize from Architectural Institute of Japan in 1995 and 2003; the 6th Japanese Structural Design Prize Matsui Gengo Special Award in 2011; the 21st BELCA Prize (Best Renovation Category) in 2012; AIJ Grand Prize in 2019. He is president of Japan Society of Seismic Isolation，chairman of Japan Academic Network for Disaster Reduction and academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering.
