Bio:

Prof. Gu received his B.Sc. (1983) in the department of building engineering, Hefei University of Technology, and his M.Sc. (1988) and Ph.D (1996) in the department of building engineering, Tongji University. His research interests include the fundamental theories of reinforced concrete and masonry structures, life-cycle analysis and maintenance of structures, and computer simulation of engineering structures. Prof. Gu is currently a vice president of Tongji university and a professor in the college of Civil Engineering. He has the following academic and professional positions: editor of Engineering History and Heritage; members of ACI; members of the National Technical Committee of Standardization of Reinforced Concrete Structures (SAC/TC458); members of the Technical Committee of Prevention of Building Collapse, Branch of Reduction of Earthquake Damages and Natural Disasters in the Architectural Society of China, etc. Prof. Gu's research has been well recognized domestically and internationally. His researches were awarded as First prize of Advances in science and technology of Shanghai metropolitan(2009), First prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award for High Schools(2008), Third prize of Advances in science and technology of Shanghai metropolitan(2006) and Second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award for High Schools(2006).
