Background

Many strong earthquakes happened after WenChuan earthquake (May, 2008), namely, Chile earthquake (Feb., 2010), Yushu earthquake (Apr., 2010), New Zealand earthquake (Feb., 2011) and Tohoku Earthquake (Mar., 2011). Those deadly earthquakes caused severely economic losses and casualties, and aroused new ideas about the research and practice in earthquake engineering. At this moment, the Fifth Kwang-Hua Forum is going to be held in Tongji University during Dec.8 to 10, 2012. The theme of this forum is set to be ” Innovations and Implementations in Earthquake Engineering Research”. Hundreds of famous international experts and scholars will be invited to the forum, which makes the forum has profound meaning to the whole society.
